Fishing changes

Fall is bringing an end to some great snapper fishing and some opportunities for traveling mackerel and bonito. The bait is still inshore and the small snook have been eating them. I always think of redfish in October when someone asks what's biting. The redfish school into groups of hundreds of fish. The challenge is finding the school!. It's been tough this year with fewer schools. I split my time on trout snapper and snook, looking for reds as I travel . Call today for your redfish trip.

Cloudy and fishy

Sanibel weather is changing this time of year.  Rain is forecast for part of the day most of the week.  Yesterday we caught fish under cloudy skies all day!.  I think the fish like the lowlight days and the cooler water. Call today to book your adventure.

Snook time

September is the start of the fall snook season. The snook have been spawning near the passes though out the summer. 

  Snook around Sanibel will start moving to winter locations soon. Please release these fish so they can make more snook to catch.  Pictured is Chris with a dandy 36" snook. This one was photographed and carefully released.

Sanibel is better

10 years after hurricane Charlie, Sanibel and Captiva have recovered . The foliage has returned, mangroves are still on the regrow. Fishing is as good as ever. Hope we continue to be hurricane free!.

Summer break fishing

This redfish was caught by Brian from New Jersey this week near  Sanibel island. Brian was fishing with his father, Bob and their wives. Bob lives in Cape Coral and planned a fishing trip while Brian was in town. We let this one go so you can catch him while you are visiting.

This May has windy days making us change the Tarpon fishing plans to snook and  redfish. As soon as it's not so windy , I'll be looking for the silver king.

Warm mornings have greeted me for the last week. Snook have been biting most of the week. Tarpon are here, biting in pine island sound . The rains haven't started yet, leaving the waters clear and emerald green. Plan your trip now , I have a few days left in May , lots of days open in June .

Warm days are here!

The weather has turned from spring to summer in a week. The water is clearing and temperatures are in the mid. 70's. Bait fish are showing up and the fish are biting. This week we caught mackerel, trout and a couple redfish. The beaches are nice and calm on the morning for shelling . See you soon! , Dave 

Spring in Sanibel Island

These lucky anglers shared a fishing trip near Captiva Island catching a few big spotted sea trout. Usually we catch smaller trout, but Lady Luck brought these beauties for a picture.

March in Sanibel

  The blue sky's and warm winds are bringing lots of anglers from the still frozen north. Yesterday we had fun catching a variety of fun fish, including this needle fish that was stealing our bait!.

Today Ethan and dad caught a variety of fun fish and. 2 of these pompano. Lady fish , Spanish mackerel , and jacks provided plenty of action . Dolphins were visiting as we fished , with one coming up to the boat to check ud out.

More warm days in Sanibel island

Today's charter was the kind of day that makes it a pleasure to guide Sanibel fishing . Warm southerly breeze, blue sky and a incoming tide. The spring brings lots of species in that were just off the beach last month. Mackerel  , lady fish, pompano and jacks are all in the passes. Sharks and even a few tarpon are in this week.

Spring break fun!!

What a great time I have taking this group fishing. The young anglers are excited when the poles start bending and the fish are almost jumping in the boat'. Thanks to the dads than help bait hooks and land fish. Can't wait until next year!!

Pompano

Hard to locate, but great fighters and good tasting. This lucky couple caught a variety of other species while fishing near South seas resort. It was a welcome break from ice fishing in Minnesota !.

Trout fishing is cool!

Fishing in February can start out cool, but as the sun warm us up the fish will start biting. A nice bob Trout for Tom, caught near Pine Island.
